During the BCTF’s strike in 2014, the government fell woefully behind on social media and so they started paying for top tweets into the #bced and #bcpoli hashtags. We used our social media team to push back against the ads and turn the message on the government. It was an easy way for members on the picket line to get engaged in the PR battle. Some of the manipulated posts got more traction than the original ads!
