The 2018 conference was hosted by the Quebec Provincial Association of Teachers (QPAT). It took place in Quebec City from June 10–13, 2018, at the Manoir Victoria.
In all, 17 staff members from 11 associations, federations and unions attended the conference. These included the L’Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens, Alberta Teachers’ Association, L’Association des enseignantes et des enseignants francophones du Nouveau-Brunswick, British Columbia Teachers’ Federation, Canadian Teachers’ Federation, Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario, Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation, Ontario Teachers’ Federation, Quebec Provincial Association of Teachers, and Yukon Teachers’ Association.
Plan and Design Content to Connect, Build and Maintain Relationships With Members (presented by Lisa McKenzie): Participants worked on building a social media promotional and editorial calendar for member engagement, creating effective content that puts a face to the union/association, designing attractive shareable images in advance, on location, and on the fly.
The Corporate World, Your Community & Hollywood Encounters!!! A Roundtable Discussion About Effective Communication Methods (Presented by Mose Persico): Insights fromMontreal’s prominent news producer and celebrity interviewer on how to build connections when speaking to people.
Graphic Art and Design (Presented by Ronda Allan): A look at the difference between a graphic “designer” and “artist”, and the skills involved in creating an effective graphic.
Advocacy – Cross Canada Sharing: Participants from across the country shared how their union/association goes about building and maintaining relationships with their members.
The Teacher Union Guide to the Galaxy – What Are Your Sticky Issues and Solutions, Sharing News and Best Practices: Presentations were made by member organizations.
Participants went on a World Heritage Walking Tour throughout Quebec City and had dinner at Café du Monde and Chez Boulay.
QPAT was delighted to host the 2018 CEPA conference and to introduce or remind participants of the beauty and charm of Quebec City.
